Washington, DC Wedding, Teresa + Brian

Teresa and Brian are a very cool couple.  They planned an outdoor wedding in the courtyard at their condominium in Northwest DC - a really pretty kind of secret garden spot.  The trouble was that the rains came, some really nasty thunderstorms, and the ceremony was moved inside the lobby of the building.  I must say that this is an example of the value of the moment and living in it.  The ceremony was fantastic with various readings from friends and family and a great string ensemble.

After the ceremony the three of us escaped to Meridian Hill Park which is just a few blocks from their condo and is where Brian proposed to Teresa.  It was here that I witnessed an act of true kindness.  Teresa gave her bouquet to a little girl who was admiring it.  In the grand scheme of things it was of little consequence to her but made an impact on the girl.

Though the outdoor ceremony was rained out, it didn't impact the day whatsoever. Talk about a positive outlook on things.

As Teresa and Brian were sneaking off for some alone time at a nearby park their ring bearer ran down the sidewalk to ask if he could be in a picture with them. The answer was, of course, yes.

Teresa and Brian are such a fun couple. I noticed these girls playing near the fountain at the park and suggested we go down and meet them.

From the park we hopped a taxi to the reception at Firefly at the Hotel Madera. This was a nice chance for them to relax before getting to the partying. I really love when couples can have some time to chill out and just enjoy each other.

This is their first dance and I felt like shooting it without a flash as not to disturb the moment. The resulting image is much more pleasing to me than what you usually see.

Reston Town Center Wedding, Alyson + Steve

Alyson and Steve’s wedding was full of fun with them swing dancing for their first dance and rolling in style to their reception in a metallic blue 1957 Chevy.  Alyson had a knee-high custom bustle sewn into her dress just for the dance.  And at the end of the night the lights were turned down low and glow sticks were handed out to the guests.

Christine + Sverrir, Darnestown, MD

Christine and Sverrir were married at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Washington, DC and celebrated into the night at the beautiful home of Christine’s parents in Darnestown, MD.  They had a great tent setup with wonderful flower arrangements from Sidra Forman and food from 3Citron.  The whole schedule was kept on track by Aimee Dominick of Aimee Dominick Events which made my job that much easier.  The weather was good and everyone had a great time.
